This position will work in conjunction with PeriOp, Quality, Inpatient and Outpatient to coordinate the ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) program/initiatives. The primary objective is to ensure that patients enrolled into ERAS programs are receiving the appropriate interventions. This is done through in-services and enhanced education of various clinicians, creation of mechanisms to increase accountability, collection of data, analysis of aggregate data, and facilitation of communication between ERAS team members.
Serves as a liaison and collaborator with all departments involved in ERAS patients, e. g. anesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses, and support staff Attendance and presentation of reports, including minutes and timelines, at weekly interdisciplinary meetings of surgeons/anesthesiologists/nurses involved in ERAS
Daily rounding on patients to monitor progress and ensure proper compliance with ERAS protocols.
Education, e. g. in-service presentations, at the preoperative services clinic (PPS), inpatient units, and outpatient clinics to educate individuals about ERAS Maintenance
Collection of patient data prior to, during, and after surgery to monitor outcomes and optimize compliance with the ERAS bundle elements.
Identifies key clinical quality and patient safety measures. Promotes the use of appropriate measures for clinical services. Uses the results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in patient care practices and in the healthcare delivery system.
Prioritizes and executes performance improvement plans related to clinical performance.
Performs documentation and process analysis, identifies clinical best practices and works with stakeholders to improve processes.
Assists with the development, piloting, use, and validation of data collection methodologies. Serves as a resource for developing indicators for studies and projects.
Graduate of an accredited Registered/Professional Nursing program.
State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
2 years of relevant nursing experience
2 years of relevant quality improvement experience.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing
Prior experience with research, data collection or analysis
knowledge of process improvement methodologies
