Boulder Community Hospital Mental Health Worker / Unit Coordinator in Boulder, Colorado

Half Time, Days, 32 hours/week.

Starting rate of $15.25 per hour, additional consideration based on years of experience. A differential is provided for flexibility associated with scheduling.

POSITION SUMMARY As an employee for Behavioral Health Services, which serves the needs of young, middle and older adults, the unit coordinator is responsible of providing support for departmental functions in the delivery of patient care. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal Training 1. High school graduate or equivalent preferred 2. Completion of an approved course for unit secretaries and/or previous experience in medical profession preferred. Special Qualifications (licensure, registration, etc.) BLS certification required by the end of conditional period. Knowledge, Skill And Ability Demonstrated physical and mental ability to support departmental functions. Experience Clerical experience in a medical setting preferred MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED Standard secretarial equipment including intercom, telephone, typewriter, computers, copy machines, etc. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES 1. Physical working environment may include, but not be limited to, any of the following hazards: chemical, electrical, mechanical, bio-waste, radiation, etc. 2. Environmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, etc. 3. Demonstrated physical and mental ability to support departmental functions. INTERRELATIONSHIPS 1. Excellent communication skills. 2. Collaborates with co-workers in problem identification and solving. 3. Evaluates own and peer performance as requested. 4. Demonstrates ENCORE values. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Transcribes and transmits physicians' orders to appropriate areas and personnel. Transcribes appropriate preps for procedures. 2. Compiles new charts, maintains current charts, and enters patient information on charts and/or Kardexes. 3. Orders designated supplies and equipment: receives and places items in proper storage area as needed. 4. Answers telephones and intercom: takes messages, and directs the department. 5. Assists with the orientation of new staff to job duties of the department. 6. Assists patients and visitors in nursing department as indicated. 7. Works within the established hospital/ division/ department policies and procedures. 8. Participates in hospital/ division/ department activities as requested. 9. Maintains census sheets and log books as indicated. 10. Participates in problem identification for quality assurance.
