We are seeking a synthetic organic chemist to join the Process Chemistry groupwithin Chemical Research and Development (CRD) in Boulder, CO. CRD,as part of Worldwide RandD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, is responsible forthe development of process technology for the production of activepharmaceutical ingredients (API). CRD scientists engage in all facets ofdevelopment from small scale synthesis in support of Discovery programs, tothe development of the commercial synthetic route. CRD scientists work withmanufacturing specialists for API synthesis in kilo-lab and pilot plantfacilities, as well as provide support for technology transfer to Pfizermanufacturing sites and third party facilities.The successful candidate will design, enable and develop scalable processesto pharmaceutical drug candidates, applying innovative chemistries, newtechnologies and statistical experimental design approaches in a laboratorysetting. The ability to work on and lead multi-disciplinary teams involvingchemists, analysts, engineers, and technologists, and to represent CRDon cross-functional teams is essential.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESThe successful candidate would propose and identify efficient and robustsynthetic routes for the preparation of APIs in early development.This position requires laboratory experimentation, participation on APIproject teams and collaborating with scientists from Analytical RandD andother disciplines to further develop synthetic routes into syntheticprocesses.Interpretation of analytical data to drive synthetic experimental plans andability to utilize electronic tools (such as electronic notebook) todocument information.A desire to continue to develop and apply new skills is required.
