Position Summary:

Reporting to Manager Procurement Technology, the role of Procurement Data Analyst is responsible for managing system data and training content related to Vail Resort’s primary purchasing system, Coupa. The individual will develop an understanding of the resources required by the purchasing users to ensure user compliance, and will provide recommendations for content updates to increase end-user awareness and improve user purchasing behavior through utilization of existing technologies.

The individual will be responsible for collecting and maintaining required item information from vendors in order to create a hosted catalog of items for purchase within Coupa. The individual will be expected to identify inconsistencies within the data in addition to analyzing purchasing behaviors for data and process optimization opportunities (i.e. developing internally hosted or supplier catalogs).

The individual will work with cross-functional teams (Operations, Sourcing, Analytics and Accounts Payable) to identify areas of opportunity for content improvements including, but not limited to: SKU rationalization, supplier performance management related to supplier item pricing agreements, and user purchasing compliance to programs. The individual will support the data governance efforts to drive better visibility into spend for utilization in analytics and sourcing decisions, ultimately impacting enterprise margins.

A strong candidate will be self-driven, detail-oriented and have analytical and problem-solving skills. This individual must be comfortable managing large data sets, must possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, etc.). The individual should have a demonstrated ability to quickly build subject matter expertise and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment with competing priorities. Preferred applicants will possess item content experience in addition to purchasing technology system testing and configuration experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong understanding of the Vail Resorts P2P purchasing systems and item configuration and act as a subject matter expert for system functionality & capabilities related to user purchasing behavior and system content utilization.

  • Assists in the definition of business processes that ensure the consistency, uniformity, and accuracy of item data. Developing/updating item master standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and tracking the execution of supplier agreements associated with hosted catalogs.

  • Identify key areas in which user purchasing process can be improved through utilization of existing and potential new technologies. Assist in the implementation of new functionality to support user-guided buying experience.

  • Analyze user purchasing behavior to identify key needs for training, content management, and improvements in system functionality to create a seamless and compliant purchasing experience. Continually seek and recommend process and system improvements aligned to strategic objectives.

  • Participates in user acceptance testing for various technology system enhancements to ensure that the functional use of the Item Master modules has not been inadvertently affected by updates.

  • Support key business initiatives and acquisition strategy by assessing data impacts (system, process, stakeholders) and providing feedback as a data operations subject matter expert.

  • Provide recommendations on optimizing item master data, including commodity classification taxonomy.

  • Develop a strong working relationship within the Procurement Operations and Technology teams to drive system optimization and process improvements in support of organizational goals and objectives.

Job Requirements:

  • B.A. or B.S. in Business, Finance, Supply-Chain, Economics, or related field; relevant work experience also accepted in lieu of education requirements

  • 2+ years relevant work experience.

  • Strong proficiency in Excel supporting large data sets, utilization of data analysis tools strongly preferred, SharePoint This position requires analytical skills, problem solving skills, and strong verbal and written communication

  • Ability to present to stakeholders in senior-level roles

  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast paced environment
