We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Satellite Orbit Analysis Engineer working on satellite systems to join our Space Systems Engineering team located in Centennial, Colorado.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide orbital mechanics subject matter expertise to GA Satellite Engineering team for present and future space missions

  • Support Satellite Operations and Space System development

  • Decompose mission requirements into propulsion subsystem-level for Delta-V and system performance requirements for LEO, MEO, and GEO missions

  • Construct and manage mission delta-V budgets

  • Establish delta-V requirements for orbit injection error correction

  • Analyze impacts of active and passive deorbit strategies on mission timelines, develop requirements and assist in creation of hardware specifications.

  • Evaluate solar array illumination for various solar array configurations and attitude control schemes

  • Determine GPS receiver accuracy requirements to ensure system performance is achieved

  • Analyze communications system antenna coverage and payload sensor coverage using STK (or similar tool)

  • Establish mission orbit determination methodologies and assist in creation of algorithms

  • Determine short-term/long-term impacts of orbit perturbations on orbital elements

  • Establish debris/collision avoidance procedures to include planning of maneuvers and status reporting

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-Time Salary

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelor's degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

  • General Orbital Mechanics knowledge is required.

  • Experience with at least one satellite mission simulation tool (e.g. Systems tool kit (STK), GMAT, FreeFlyer, MONTE) is required,

  • Experience with at least 1 scripting language (e.g. MATLAB, Python) is required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.

  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.

  • Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Must be able to work extended hours as required and be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and workloads.

  • US citizenship is required

Desired Skills:

  • Understanding evolution of orbit parameters in response to various perturbations

  • Experience developing delta-V budgets using both low-fidelity environments (i.e. Hohmann, Lambert) and high-fidelity simulations (i.e. STK) for both Low and High thrust propulsion systems

  • Experience with AGI products, specifically Orbit Determination Toolkit (ODTK), Space Environment Effects Tool (SEET), and Astrogator

  • Experience with evaluating GPS receiver performance

  • Experience with at least 1 compiled language and familiarity with object-oriented programing

  • Familiarity with Two-Line Element sets, SGP4, and various other orbital propagation algorithms

  • Experience performing orbit determination

Each job has a salary range which identifies the minimum, midpoint (market) and maximum base pay for the job. Pay rates are established based on the individual's knowledge, skill, experience and education/training needed to perform the job. The salary range for this position is $72,413-$108,619.
