The Ground Design and Mission Support (GDMS) organization is seeking a highly motivated and experienced
Senior Systems Engineering Manager
to take a hands on approach in leading and managing a geographically dispersed team in the combined engineering and program execution for the Space Based Space Surveillance (SBSS), Global Positioning System (GPS), and the GPS next generation Operational Control System (OCX) efforts in Colorado Springs, CO.
Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities.
Provides on-going developmental feedback.
Manages, develops, and motivates employees performing systems and software engineering, technical activities and programmatic execution
Supports proposal efforts for new business, potentially serving as the capture or proposal manager.
Serves as a subject matter expert for contract execution and on-orbit satellite operations and performance.
Tracks and evaluates program performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
Provides process leadership for program projects through selection, tailoring, and deployment of corrective action processes, tools, and metrics.
Oversees the execution of the Program’s risk/issue/opportunity process and root cause corrective analysis (RCCA) and Risk Issue & Opportunity (RIO) Boards.
Oversees the Program’s Configuration Control Boards (CCB).
Ensures the stability of the program organization with clearly defined responsibilities, authority, and accountabilities for program execution
Ensures the program is executing per schedule with a robust scheduling process
Develops and sustains an open “help needed” culture.
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience:
10 years of Program Management experience on defense related programs
5+ years of experience in Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience:
Experience working with Air Force Space Command programs
