The Boeing Company Sr. Missile Defense Systems Engineer / Analyst (5) in Colorado Springs, Colorado
The Missile Defense National Team (MDNT) provides systems engineering solutions to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) for the development and evolution of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).
The BMDS is an integrated, layered architecture that provides multiple opportunities to destroy missiles and their warheads before they can reach their targets.
The MDNT performs systems analyses of the existing BMDS architecture in conjunction with new technologies and concepts to be considered for future BMDS architectures.
The MDNT performs analyses using various fidelity models and simulations to predict performance of current and future sensors, weapons, countermeasures, and counter-countermeasures.
In addition, MDNT evaluates various scenarios and architectures to optimize overall system performance in a framework giving insight into performance improvements that may be employed by MDA.
MDNT works closely with the MDA, FFRDCs, along with various contractors and suppliers to bring about conceptual improvements, models & simulations to help define system improvements, new requirements, and perform architecture trade studies to help assess performance benefits of future systems.
The individual will be responsible for performing analysis of current and future BMDS advanced sensor concepts and architectures using existing modeling and simulation (M&S) tools or M&S tools created or modified by the candidate.
Responsibility includes assessing potential solutions to a spectrum of countermeasures, threat modeling, leveraging radar sensor architectures concepts, applying advanced discrimination techniques and ingenuity to develop new/different approaches to solving complex physics problems and developing initial or final performance or functional system of system requirements.
Individual will work in a cross-discipline product team and routinely interface with MDNT group leads, senior management, and government personnel responsible for executing analysis tasks.
The individual will document analysis results in reports and briefings for critique and review by the National Team and other MDA representatives representing sensors, weapons, and C2.
Individual may perform as a principal investigator.
The candidate may be charged with leading a team that includes functional and analysis members performing the aforementioned. Occasional travel is required.
This position requires candidate acceptance by industry partner resource control board.

Basic Qualifications (Requirements):
This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
Experience modeling and analyzing sensors, preferably related to BMDS.
Individual must have a technical background in statistical modeling and algorithm experience using MATLAB or equivalent frameworks and at least two of the following: sensors, stealth technology, missiles/interceptors, BMDS target threat modeling, development of physics based threat models, target tracking, electronic warfare systems and/or discrimination.
Experience analyzing complicated physics problems using medium- to high-fidelity parametric models/simulations utilizing Monte Carlo techniques to provide insight into performance capabilities of real-world weapon systems.
Experience performing system engineering trade studies, analysis optimization and assessing new technologies along with readiness level. Candidate must demonstrate ability to think critically to develop and capture concepts in technical papers, presentations, and discussions.
Candidate will screen and down-select industry led concepts by performing qualitative and quantitative evaluations, assessments and characterizations of ballistic, non-ballistic, and hypersonic concepts across all phases of the kill chain.
Must have good communication skills, be capable of working independently, as well as being a team player, able to present to senior leadership and customers, and capable of leading a small team of systems engineers/analysts.
