This position is in support of the Combined Orbital Operations Logistics Sustainment (COOLS) contract. Primary support location is at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, CO.

The Systems Engineer-IT’s primary responsibilities are participating in the implementation, maintenance, and support of information technologies, to include Windows and Unix systems and components. The engineer schedules and performs installations and upgrades to OS/COTs, software, and database packages in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. In addition, this position will coordinate the overall integration on new development systems as they transition to sustainment. The engineer is responsible for managing appropriate software solutions to ensure server data integrity, monitoring and tuning the system to achieve optimum performance level, monitoring security alerts and application systems, and working with other staff to ensure that all appropriate patches are applied in an automated and timely fashion.

Perform operating system and COTS installations on servers and workstations. Platforms include Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2016. Develop scripts using PowerShell, VBScript, or other similar tools to improve administration automation. Perform daily systems administration tasks in Windows and Solaris environments, to include monitoring and troubleshooting physical and virtual systems. Apply cybersecurity best practices to ensure high compliance status is met. Perform server builds and periodic maintenance on such servers. Maintain and develop documentation as necessary. Perform periodic COTS assessments to determine continued compliance, usage, and needs. Troubleshoot any issues and provide support across the Information System.

Basic Qualifications:

• Active DOD SECRET clearance

• Must Meet DOD 8570 Requirement (current Security+ or similar)

• Minimum 1 year Windows administration/engineering

• Minimum 1 year VMWare or other virtualization platform experience

Desired Skills:

• Networking experience preferred

• Unix (Solaris/Red Hat Enterprise Linux) administration experience highly desired

• Active Directory Domain Services and Group Policy Management knowledge

• Windows scripting experience preferred

• Backup and recovery application experience

• Familiarity with cybersecurity practices (virus protection, applying vendor critical patches, system accreditation, etc.)

• General understanding of ClearQuest and/or ClearCase
