This position is in support of the Combined Orbital Operations Logistics Sustainment (COOLS) contract. Primary support location is at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, CO.

The Systems Engineer-IT’s primary responsibilities are participating in the implementation, maintenance, and support of information technologies, to include Unix and Windows systems and components. The engineer schedules and performs installations and upgrades to OS/COTs, software, and database packages in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. In addition, this position will coordinate the overall integration on new development systems as they transition to sustainment. The engineer is responsible for managing appropriate software solutions to ensure server data integrity, monitoring and tuning the system to achieve optimum performance level, monitoring security alerts and application systems, and working with other staff to ensure that all appropriate patches are applied in an automated and timely fashion.

Perform operating system and COTS installations on servers, to include Solaris 10 and Solaris 11 on SPARC and x86 infrastructures. Develop scripts using Z-Shell, C-Shell, Perl, or other similar tools to improve administration automation. Perform daily systems administration tasks in Windows and Solaris environments, to include monitoring and troubleshooting physical and virtual systems. Develop and apply cybersecurity solutions utilizing current DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to ensure high compliance status is met. Perform server builds and quarterly maintenance on such servers. Maintain and develop documentation as necessary. Perform periodic COTS assessments to determine continued compliance, usage, and needs. Troubleshoot any issues and provide support across the Information System.

Basic Qualifications:

• Active DOD SECRET clearance

• Must Meet DOD 8570 Requirement (current Security+ or similar)

• Minimum 2 years Unix systems administration/engineering

• Minimum 2 years VMWare or other virtualization platform experience

• Minimum 1 year Unix shell scripting experience

Desired Skills:

• LDAP experience preferred

• Windows systems administration helpful

• Familiarity with cybersecurity practices (virus protection, applying vendor critical patches, system accreditation, etc.)

• General understanding of ClearQuest and/or ClearCase

• Experience with Database installations or configurations
