Duties/ResponsibilitiesAffiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a percredithour basis for specific classes, as needed, usually on a semester by semesterbasis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under theUniversity's benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent onbudget and enrollment. An affiliate faculty member's duties include: meetingassigned classes or delivering on-line content consistent with university,college/school, and department policies; providing instruction in assignedclasses consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regularcourse syllabus and, if appropriate, with department course coordinationpolicies; being available, either face to face or electronically, tostudents inassigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed andappropriate for the teaching assignment; and complying with university-widestudent evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.Affiliate faculty members teach 1 to 9 credit hours.Courses taught may include one or more of the following: Human Biology forNon-Majors (BIO 1000); General Biology Lecture and/or Laboratory(BIO 1080 1090 1081, 1091); Human Anatomy and Physiology (BIO 2310and 2320); General Microbiology (BIO 2400); General Genetics (BIO3600) and other upper division Biology courses as needed by the Department.Affiliate faculty member's duties include: meeting assigned classes ordelivering on-line content consistent with University, School, College,and Department policies; providing instruction in assigned classesconsistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular coursesyllabus and, if appropriate, with Department course coordinationpolicies; being available, either face-to-face or electronically, tostudents in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as neededand appropriate for the teaching assignment; and complying withUniversity-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peerobservationThe University is particularly interested in applicants who have experienceworking with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitmentto improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.
