Volvo Group Digital Insurance Director (Insurtech) in Denver, Colorado

Welcome to the new world of connected insurance. Imagine being able to remotely monitor how a truck or construction machine is being used, for how long, where and any number of other metrics – and then package an insurance policy that exactly mirrors the risks involved. That’s the journey VFS is embarking upon – and we need a strategic thinker and action-orientated tech-friendly leader to champion the evolution of these products and services, from start-up to mass market adoption.

The Director of digital insurance will lead VFS’s foray into the world of Insurtech. This role requires a rare combination of experience in insurance, technology, and risk management – and understanding the business opportunities that these elements offer when combined.

The successful tech-savvy candidate will manage the integration of third-party technology and build a business model around it that is robust, one that can scale into other areas of the Volvo Group, nationally. The role demands an entrepreneurial mindset, and encompasses business development, strategy, negotiation, forging strategic partnerships and ultimately building a sales pipeline to establish and grow VFS’s insurtech business.

Working at our Volvo Financial Services HQ in Greensboro, NC is preferred but not a requirement. There is an expectation of extensive travel with some training and orientation sessions in Greensboro early on to learn our business.

Key responsibilities

  • Liaise with external partner REIN, an insurtech start-up, in the adoption and development of its configurable risk technology platform.

  • Understanding the potential of customizable data-driven solutions that improve the overall insurance experience for customers, while selecting and pricing risk in a more effective way.

  • Develop and launch insurtech products and services.

  • Establish a cost-effective revenue generation model that can scale nationally and across sectors. (Existing customers and new accounts.)

  • Promote the concept and advantages of the insurtech model among Volvo Group business areas.

  • Develop focus groups among key stakeholders to test and refine insurtech offerings.

  • Create compelling point of sale digital insurance offerings to agreed target audiences.

  • Coordinate all licensing activities of the new gen insurance products.

  • Negotiate contracts with Volvo Group dealers and customers.

  • Coordinate appropriate training programs for VFS employees and dealer network.

  • Ensure insurtech policies and procedures meet company standards.

  • Maintain compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.

  • Execute day-to-day initiatives to meet financial commitments.

Education and Professional Experience

  • Proven capability (7yrs +) of commercial insurance sales, and/or product launch and business development.

  • Licensed in Property & Casualty – or have the ability/willingness to become so.

  • Responsible for leading large-scale technology development programs.

  • Proficiency in working with multiple partners to develop targeted product and service offerings.

  • Proven experience of monetizing plans and managing high performing sales teams.

  • BA/BS in Business, Finance, Marketing or similar
