A Day in the Life of a DSP . . .
Our Direct Support Professionals work in Laradon?s Adult Day Program. Our purpose is to develop meaningful on-going social relationships, promote independence through decision making, continuous learning, and empowering individuals in their day to day needs. As a Direct Support Professional you empower, support, develop, and facilitate training with individuals with intellectual development disabilities (IDD). You?ll build an inclusive environment focused on basic living and social skills. You?ll work alongside individuals celebrating the progress they make along the way, all while supporting them towards their personal goals and interests. Ultimately, our focus is to give the individuals the tools to be a part of our community and to achieve all they aspire to do.
How you will make a difference . . .
+ + Implement, track and record adaptive and/or behavioral Individual Service and Support Plans (ISSPs and BISSPs).
Complete and maintain all required paperwork and manage individual?s and agency?s funds per Laradon?s policy and procedures.
Prevention and management of crisis to provide a safe environment.
Perform, or assist individuals served with personal hygiene (e.g., bathing, brushing teeth, shaving, nail clipping, dressing, bodily functions, and appearance) and basic domestic duties as needed (e.g., cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping)
Develop, schedule and facilitate opportunities in the community to be included in work exposure and experience, social activities and recreation leisure activities.
Build natural supports and community connections and help to coordinate and maintain service recipient's schedule (e.g., doctor appointments, employment) via personal transportation in a safe and timely manner.
Administer medications per individual?s order and document according to regulations.
Maintain effective communication and positive relationships with service recipients, families, staff, administration, case management, and other service providers
Drive participants as necessary for program needs
What you need to know . . .
Schedule: Monday ? Friday 7:30am ? 3:30pm
Environment: This is a combination of virtual, on campus, and in the community
Compensation: Starting at $15.00/hr. Additional compensation is commensurate with each year of applicable experience and education up to $16.50/hr.
Safety Care: All employees are required to provide physical behavior support which includes physical management (training provided upon hire); may be subject to aggressive and non-compliant behavior from special needs adults
Pre-Employment: Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and CBI/FBI Federal background check.
100% On Campus Learning: As Laradon is a small employer and employees work in a collaborative and team environment, our employees must be physically present in the office to perform different job functions. Additionally, as a service provider, our instructional methods under our services model require the work to be performed on campus.

Superstar communicator ? Able to communicate and listen well with adults, staff, guardians, and the community
Brains ? At least two years of experience with developmentally disabled individuals or experience with emotional/behavior disorders
Mindset ? Compassionate, caring, energetic, and flexible
Passion and Understanding - Skills in crisis management, flexibility, patience, and ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions.
Super strength - Able to exert/lift/push up to 50 pounds of force
Must be 21 years or older
