University Of Denver Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Technician in Denver, Colorado

Position SummaryThe Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Technician is responsible for generalsupport functions for specimen processing and analysis within a moleculardiagnostics testing laboratory. Functions performed may include but are notlimited to data entry for samples being tested, pickup and delivery ofspecimens to the laboratory, proper specimen handling includingcentrifugation, pipetting and assay setup/processing, and post-assaydata analysis.Essential Functions* Performs all duties according to the standard operating procedures(SOPs) outlined by the Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories quality system.* Follows the laboratory's established quality management system andchemical hygiene plan.* Manages receiving and handling of specimens for processing.* Works closely with the specimen collection staff to ensure timely processingof critical specimens.* Communicates with laboratory staff on the status of the delivery or receiptof specimens.* Identifies problems and may resolve or notify appropriate person of issueswith specimens such as missing information, equipment malfunctions or othercritical events with the potential to impact the accuracy /reliability ofdiagnostic testing etc.* Understands the testing procedures, prepares samples for biologicalprocessing, including specimen handling and delivery.* Maintains an understanding of compliance regulations related to diagnostictesting and/or the use of specimens research involving human subjects whichmay change with little to no notice.* Continuous education of technical knowledge in molecular diagnosticslaboratory testing.* Maintain a clean and safe work environment.* Ability to handle multiple priorities and manage stress appropriately.* Good dexterity with excellent attention to detail.* Ability to work with minimal supervision.* As determined by laboratory supervisor(s) and/or laboratory director.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities* Accountability: Accepts full responsibility for self and contribution as ateam member; displays honesty and truthfulness; confronts problemsquickly; displays a strong commitment to organizational success and inspiresothers to commit to goals; demonstrates a commitment to the University ofDenve* Science Focus: Ensuring that scientific validity is a driving force behindall decisions and activities with the potential to impact the outcome ofmolecular diagnostic testing.* Drive for Results: Setting high goals for personal and groupaccomplishment; working to meet or exceed goals while deriving satisfactionfrom that achievement and committing to a process of continuous improvement.* Informing Communicating: Clearly conveying information to peers andUniversity stakeholders in a manger that engages the listener and promotesunderstanding of the molecular diagnostics validation and testing process.* Peer Relationships: Interact s with others in a constructive,positive, and respectful manner, regardless of individual differences.Assists co-workers in achieving personal goals and completing assignments.* Problem Solving: Uses issue identification, pattern recognition and rootcause analysis to identify potential problems, identify causes and makerecommendations to resolve and prevent the recurrence of problems with thepotential to adversely impact laboratory operations.* Be available to work as scheduled and report to work on time.* Be willing to accept supervision and work well with others.* Be well groomed, appropriately for your role.* Be in compliance with all departmental and institutional policies, theEmployee Handbook, Code of Conduct and completes all required laboratorytraining by the designated deadline.* Fosters an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differencesare valued and leveraged to achieve the vision and mission of the institution.* Adheres to safe working practices and at all times follows all institutionaland departmental safety policies and procedures including the laboratory'sChemical Hygiene Plan.* Wears appropriate PPE as ou
