A professional position at Xcel Energy could be just whatyou're looking for.Position SummaryResponsible for accurate, timely and meaningful market risk reporting to keyinternal consumers of Trading Risk and Risk Strategy information, includingSenior Leadership, Commercial Operations, Trading, Risk Management andAccounting. Collaborates across Structured Deal Evaluation and Booking team toensure robust valuation of complex transactions, using key valuation modelsand concepts. Ensures high integrity risk reporting process by comparingreport results to multiple independent perspectives. Conducts analysisrequired to measure and explain real risk.Essential ResponsibilitiesLeads the effort to translate Risk Strategy and Valuation methods intorequirements, processes and tools that integrate with existing risk modelingand reporting framework. Design, develop and update portfolio risk reportingtools, and P/L and risk decomposition tools in a variety ofimplementations, including VBA, MATLAB, SAS and vendor reporting tools.Using understanding of complex transactions, deploy model libraries forrobust outside the system valuation, connect risk system with model outputsvia load objects, and validate that resulting risk metrics and reports meetcommercial intuition. Coordinate closely with Non-Standard Transaction BookingTeam to ensure valuation model reflects transaction pricing.Use understanding of commercial business strategy, commodity marketfundamental drivers, portfolio theory and risk theory to identifydiscrepancies between expected results and system outputs, deploy market andsystems expertise to resolve concerns, and accurately report real market risk.Review operational risk controls, processes, and results. Provide feedbackand training to Risk Operations team to obtain accurate and meaningful risksystem inputs.Coordinates monthly Risk System to GAAP reporting process with Technical andOperational Accounting. Use understanding of key accounting concepts tovalidate report outputs.Deploy system design expertise, coding skills, valuation skills, andcommercial abilities to enhance and streamline existing risk system.Coordinate closely with Valuation and Systems Strategy group on long term risksystem project.Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in a highly quantitative discipline such as engineering,mathematics, physics, quantitative analysis, finance, economics or arelated discipline.Numerate graduate degree strongly preferred.3 years of experience in highly quantitative position within the energyindustry or financial markets.Knowledge of energy trading terminology, commodity markets and theanalytical and statistical methods required to evaluate those markets.Strong Excel and Excel VBA skills.Coding and analysis package skills required, such as Python, MATLAB, or Java.Excellent verbal, presentation and written skills.Expected to work with minimal oversight in fast paced, open trade floorenvironment._______________________________________________________________________________________________As a leading combination electricity and natural gas energy company, XcelEnergy offers a comprehensive portfolio of energy-related products andservices to 3.4 million electricity and 1.9 million natural gas customersacross eight Western and Midwestern states.
