USA Millwork Strategic Sourcing Manager in Denver, Colorado

The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for the selection of suppliers that provide USA Millwork materials, equipment and services. As a critical member of the Supply Chain department, the Strategic Sourcing Manager will be accountable for selecting suppliers, negotiating cost and operational standards with the supply base, and using metrics aligned with company corporate strategic directives to drive continuous improvement with the suppliers they manage.


  • Source materials, services and equipment in accordance with established company practices and procedures.

  • Partner on vendor selection with internal stakeholders with emphasis on best economic value and defined company operational and product quality standards.

  • Responsible for supplier success metrics, such as on time delivery performance, cost of materials, cost of expediting, and supplier quality.

  • Negotiate with suppliers to get the optimal quality, cost, and delivery while maintaining healthy relationships with all suppliers, regardless of spend.

  • Understand in detail the suppliers? strengths and weaknesses, and clearly articulate them to internal stakeholders.

  • Setup blanket purchase agreements with suppliers where appropriate.

  • Guide suppliers on how they can be successful in doing business with USA Millwork.

  • Own the preferred and at-risk supplier list that the Purchasing and Project team will use for quote gathering.

  • Act as central point of contact for all supplier performance issues.

  • Work with Purchasing staff to perform root cause analysis of any supplier issues, such as missed deliveries or quality issues. This includes recommendation for corrective action to prevent recurrence.

  • Whenever possible, implement supplier managed and owned inventories.

  • Drive continuous improvement in Supply Chain by taking on various programs or projects on an ongoing basis.

  • Bachelor?s degree in related field. MBA highly preferred.

  • 8 + years minimum experience in a fast-paced business environment.

  • Experience managing material purchasing and/or planning to support the manufacturing of customized products.

  • Experience in architectural millwork or a related field (i.e commercial interior finishes) highly preferred.


  • Thorough knowledge of Supply Chain best practices, techniques, procedures, and policies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, specifically building trust of internal stakeholders.

  • A ?service oriented? approach. Meaning that our internal customer?s needs are paramount to the company?s success, and we must do all we can to meet their needs.

  • Outstanding negotiating skills.

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.

  • The ability to use data for problem resolution, meaning an intermediate/advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Excel. For example, be able to perform v-lookups, pivot tables, and if statements to aid in problem resolution. Ability to create charts and graphs to communicate important issues.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.

  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.

  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player.

  • Mentor other Supply Chain staff on best practices and procedures.


This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary. This role may also require walking the shop floor daily.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in a typical office environment and occasionally works on or near the shop floor where there may be moving mechanical parts with occasional exposure to the risk of electrical shock, outdoor weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally high.


  • Minimal travel is required for this position.
