Internal Job ID: J3N14Y75SYPTWXF60HRThe Manager of Database Development is responsible for managing andcoordinating resources and processes needed to deliver data solutions tosupport the enterprise. This individual will have hands on involvement indesign, development and testing of new projects as well as responsibilityfor general maintenance and troubleshooting activities for data engineeringand software development production systems and interfaces. Technologiesinclude traditional database objects like stored procedures, replicationtechnologies and DaaS.Duties and Responsibilities:Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to thoselisted below:* Work with software development team and business analysts to plan andexecute projects, ensuring that the database development team hasappropriate requirements, technical specifications, direction andresources to deliver solutions effectively and timely* Establish realistic timeline estimates while ensuring projects remain ontarget to meet deadlines* Manage database development resources and execute on multiple projectssimultaneously with distributed teams* Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate and lead team membersto optimum performance levels and career development* Perform and oversee development tasks associated with the design anddevelopment of database related project elements using Microsoft SQL Server asthe primary platform* Help developers resolve technical problems as well as work with departmentheads to solve business related issues* Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard informationagainst accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure* Develop methods for integrating different products so they work properlytogether, such as customizing commercial databases to fit specific needs* Assist database administrator (DBA) in defining architectural standardsfor database applications* Mentor junior developers and work as a team member to improve groupprocesses and set standards* Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems to serve as asource of information and advice for upper management* Evaluate new technologies from simple research through setting up andrunning an effective proof-of-concept, to determine if and when they shouldbe incorporated into the business* Participate in database documentation, training and deployment efforts* Provide guidance to others by reviewing work and providing recommendationsfor design, coding or testing approach, which could include conducting orparticipating in code walkthroughs or other methods to ensure code quality* Maintain availability for after-hours production support on an as-neededbasis* Communicate with department management, project managers, team membersand business groups on issues and the status of work planned and completed* Other duties as assignedQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below arerepresentative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilitiesto perform the essential functions.Education:Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent certification orexperienceExperience/Skills Needed:* 8+ years of SQL Server development and integration experience* Expertise with SQL Server 2008/2012 including TSQL and stored procedures* Must have a strong understanding of how the SQL Server database engineworks, including but not limited to physical storage, indexing,partitioning, physical database design best practices, and the query optimizer* Experience with services and DaaS a big plus* Must have strong interpersonal skills* Experience with SQL Server administration* Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), DTS,OLTP/OLAP design and development* Experience with Postgres a plus* PL/SQL coding experience and Oracle Database experience a plus* Exp
