The Senior Consultant, Product Management System Implementation will support Optum’s Stepwise Suite. Broadly, the Stepwise Suite is a single technology platform that enables efficiency for its users by automating key underwriting, actuarial, product, compliance, sales and fulfillment processes. Out of the 3 components of the Stepwise Suite including Product Lifecycle Manager (PLM), Automated Rating, and Online Shopping, this role will focus on PLM component. In this role you will work with Commercial Clients to gather requirements, facilitate system design and configuration, and implementation as it relates to their management and dissemination of plan and benefit information.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Consult with Clients on implementation of StepWise PLM with focus on benefit product and plan design, benefit rules, and Federal and State mandates.

  • Consult with Clients on the development of user interface and/or process automation using the StepWise workflow engine

  • Utilize Excel and SQL-based systems to provide data-driven recommendations and answers to questions and/or issues

  • Maintain an understanding of industry issues and changes and their impacts/opportunities as they relate to the Stepwise Suite.

  • Understand our Clients' business and place within the market; act as their main point of contact both during a project and after implementation is complete to ensure thorough understanding and utilization of the software’s capability

  • Clearly articulate goals and expectations of the Stepwise tool, relating them to the client's business mission and direction

  • Act as a consultant to the Client while also driving project deadlines and driving against competing priorities

  • Able to direct segments of work and manage deliverables

  • Establish trust and credibility at all levels of the organization

  • Present and demo to peers and Clients

  • Communicate effectively, tailoring to the audience appropriately and clearly articulating objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university

  • 2+ years of experience working with SQL, including SQL query writing and data modeling

  • 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, calculations, and writing macros.

  • 3+ years of experience working in a corporate environment in a quantitative capacity

  • Understanding of benefit plans, benefit rules, regulations and benefit design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree obtained in quantitative discipline

  • Experience working in a Commercial/Group Healthcare Product Management capacity

  • Experience with user interface design and/or workflow design

  • Experience working with the StepWise Suite

  • Actuarial and/or Underwriting foundation
