Charter Communications/Spectrum VP, Technology Policy in Englewood, Colorado

JOB CODE: XEN102JOB TITLE: VP, Technology PolicyJOB SUMMARYReporting to the SVP, Technology Planning and Application, the VicePresident of Technology Policy focuses on a changing set of technology-relatedpublic policy issues currently facing Spectrum, including unauthorizedaccess to Spectrum services and content, 5G wireless deployment, ruralbroadband construction, Next Generation TV, cybercrime and energyefficiency. The position acts as a bridge between Spectrum's Product andTechnology Group and Government Affairs office in Washington.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESActively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance thecustomer experience.Remain current on the technology policy issues facing the cable and telecomindustries to advise our policy staff on positions Charter should take inconjunction with other telecommunication industry leaders.Responsible for understanding regulatory and legislative proposals within thetelecom industry, coming primarily from the FCC, DOE, and FTC and theEnergy and Commerce committees, respectively.Research and present the technical methods, business models and ecosystemorganizations used by broadband and video pirates to mitigate piracy. Thisincludes collecting and preserving detailed documentation of specified pirateactivities to be used as input into mitigation actions.Work with Engineering and Government Affairs teams to ensure that Charter'snetwork evolution plans will be compatible with laws and regulations around 5Gwireless development and rural broadband deployment.Prepare financial analysis for topics being debated at the FCC and Congress,such as rural broadband construction costs, piracy revenue losses andmitigation costs, 5G deployment rationales, and CPE energy savingscompliance costs and benefits.Responsible for monitoring deliverables and updating status for keyprograms, projects and strategic initiatives for entire team, ensuringconsistency and completing on time.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and KnowledgeAbility to read, write, speak and understand EnglishStrong knowledge of the telecommunications industry.Proven experience in owning, executing and delivering upon enterprise andline-of-business programs.In-depth knowledge of internet architecture and technologies.Public policy experience and interest.Ability to work collaboratively across functions.Ability to communicate orally and written in a clear, straightforward mannerto all levels of organization as well as in public forums and with technicalpartners and agencies.Excellent problem-solving skills, and ability to work under pressure and tomeet tight deadlinesFlexible and adaptable tochanging priorities.Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.Ability to matrix manage across corporate functions and the field.Knowledge and curiosity of digital media consumption landscape.Understanding of the multimedia and Pay-tv content threat landscape isimportant.Strong critical thinking, questioning, and listening skills andexcellentattention to detail.EducationEngineering degree or experience in electrical or computer science; MBApreferred.Related Work Experience Number of YearsExperience in Telcom Industry 10+Leadership experience 7+WORKING CONDITIONSOffice environmentSalaries depend on geography, experience, and education; negotiationsbegin at $142600For more information on Spectrum's benefits, please click .The Spectrum brands (including Spectrum Networks, Spectrum Enterprise andSpectrum Reach) are powered and innovated by Charter Communications.
