Summary

About the Position: The primary purpose of this position is to perform support work in connection with the care and treatment given to patients. This position is a TERM position Not to exceed 2 years. It is time-limited and may be extended beyond six years up to a maximum of eight years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met.

Responsibilities

Provide support and input for the coordination of administrative services (e.g., scheduling, templates, staffing, and training) performed within the health care facilities or offices.

Enter, upload maintain, review, and/or update health care records (e.g., patient data, patient identifiers).

Assess patients' administrative needs and provide guidance or assistance in resolving patient concerns.

Ability to provide clear and concise directions for patient care.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes documented/demonstrated experience performing work such as a receptionist, recordkeeping, clerical, and administrative support functions that provided you with the knowledge of clinical procedures involving patient care that included duties such as receiving patients, scheduling appointments; maintaining charts, files, or records; providing information to patients, professional medical staff, and the general public and utilizing a personal computer and office automation software programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
