Description of Work Unit

The Department of Physics maintains a tradition of excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Department Postdoctoral positions participate in research with programs in many of the most active and exciting areas of physics. The HEP group at Colorado State University has leading roles on the NOvA and DUNE long-baseline neutrino experiments, the Fermilab short-baseline neutrino program, as well as the SciDAC 4 HEP Data Analytics project at Fermilab . Prof. Buchanan’s group is focused on cross-section measurements and data-driven trigger leadership on the NOvA experiment, software, computing, and detector development for the DUNE experiment, and HEP high-performance computing tool development for modeling and fitting neutrino datasets collected across a range of experiments.

Position Summary

The High-Energy Physics group of Prof. Norm Buchanan in the Department of Physics, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado, seeks applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in experimental neutrino physics. The position will involve development of computing-based tools for modeling and analyzing neutrino data in for the DUNE and NOvA experiments, as well as taking a leading role in the analysis of data collected with the NOvA experiment.

Required Job Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physics or a related field.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Research experience in experimental high-energy physics. Programming experience (C++, or other object-oriented languages) and experience with the analysis of high-energy physics experimental data would be an asset.
