The Landfill Gate Attendant provides directions to members of thepublic using County Landfill facilities, handle monetary transactions andprovide professional customer service. ResponsibilitiesSpecifically, this position:Greets members of the public using the County's landfill facilities andinspects contents of refuse to be dumped at the landfill.Collects and processes related fees and charges and maintains appropriaterecords and logs.Directs members of the public to various dumping areas within the landfilldepending upon the contents of their refuse.Watches for and notifies appropriate landfill personnel of potential hazardsincluding fires or toxic and flammable chemicals.Ensures that refuse dumped at the landfill complies with County rules andpolicies related to the landfill operations.Direct traffic at the front gate and/or dump site.To view the full jobdescription, click .The ideal candidate will:Learn and apply pertinent landfill rules and regulations.Have experience with cash handling.Have the ability to work in fast paced environment.Provide professional customer service to clients and public.Have a positive attitude.Be able to adapt quickly.Work well under pressure.Be able to work in all weather conditions. QualificationsOne (1) year of experience in a directly related field or in theperformance of similar duties and responsibilities required.High School diploma or GED required. Supplemental InformationThis is a temporary, part-time position. There is no guarantee of hours.This position will require working at least 2 Saturdays a month.An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of apre-employment drug screen and background check. As marijuana is an illegalsubstance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical orotherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will resultin the contingent offer of employment being revoked.
