The Operations .and. Planning Engineer is an entry level position in operationsand planning engineering. The position is responsible for supportingtransmission operations and planning engineering functions. The individual inthe position will assist in maintaining transmission system models andassociated one-line drawings and maps. The position will assist and learn howto perform reliability assessments for real time, near term, and long-termplanning while working closely with the Reliability Coordinator(s) andneighboring Transmission Operators (TOP's).This position reports to the System Engineering Manager and will developworking relationships with multiple engineering and operations team members.Annual salary range: $74,832 - 102,808 (DOQ)Essential Functions-Assists with the detailed coordination, preparation, and delivery of WECCbase cases-Assists in performing powerflow studies-Provides support for the PSO-Transmission operators during real-time systemevents-Assists in performing operating and planning assessments-Assists in maintaining NERC and WECC compliance reporting and documentation-Participates in Colorado Coordinated Planning Group/Foothills planning andoperations groups-Supports model development, testing, maintenance, and validationefforts for Real Time Contingency Analysis (RTCA) tool-Develops written transmission system reports and analysis-Collaborates closely with internal team members to seek guidance and inputregarding activities-Maintains regular and reliable attendance-Performs other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications-Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering from an accreditedfour-year college-Strong analytical skills-Ability to successfully complete Platte River's critical infrastructureprotection (CIP) and other mandatory training required to maintainsecurity clearance and other status-Ability to collaborate with and desire to seek input from internal teammembers; skilled in seeking and valuing diverse opinions and ideas-Ability to multi-task, shifting focus to emerging priorities as needed-Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form-Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel,Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)-Ability to apply problem solving, critical thinking, and independentdecision-making skills, with consistent attention to detail-Ability to make sound decisions with consideration for potential impacts ofdecisions to the overall organization-Current valid driver's license and ability to remain insurable under PlatteRiver's vehicle liability policyDesired Qualifications-Related engineering work experience-Understanding of PSS/E power system analysis software-Knowledge of NERC/WECC Reliability Standards-Experience with Mathcad-Understanding of NESC, NEC, IEEE, ANSI design and construction codesThis position will remain posted until filled.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment withoutregard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, genderidentity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.Platte River endeavors to make our careers site accessible to any and allusers.
