ResponsibilitiesSpecifically, this position:Supervises and trains seasonal staff.Identifies invasive exotic and native plant species.Records and maintains appropriate records and reports as required by theEnvironmental Protection Agency and the Colorado Department of Agriculture.Operates vegetation management equipment; selects, mixes, repairs, andapplies appropriate chemicals with various types of sprayers in a safe andappropriate manner in full accordance with label .Identifies requirements and regulations of County, state, and federal weedcontrol programs including all requirements relevant to pesticide storage,mixing, application, and disposal.Maps noxious weed infestations using GPS.Interacts with park visitors, private property owners, and volunteers.Toview the full job description, click .The ideal candidate will:Have experience in vegetation management through IPM including the handlingand application of pesticides.Be able to operate a truck, trailer, ATV, UTV, and spray equipment.Have coursework in biology or physical sciences.Have experience supervising staff and/or volunteers.Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.Regular, predictable attendance.Be able to identify various weed species at different stages of growth.Be able to measure and mix pesticides and follow pesticide safety standards.Have knowledge of the rules, regulations, and laws related to weed,pest, insect, and fungi abatement and control. QualificationsOne (1) year of experience in a directly related field or in theperformance of similar duties and responsibilities required.Possession of Colorado Commercial Pesticide Applicator's Q.S. (QualifiedSupervisor) certification in at least one (1) of the followingcategories: Industrial and Right-of-way, Forest Pests, Turf Weeds,Ornamental Insects, or Ornamental Diseases required.Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License required. Schedule varies between the hours of 6:00am - 5:00pm.
