TheAcademy consists of rigorous and intensive physical and academic lawenforcement training. The recruit will be required to participate in allaspects of the training. Recruits are subject to all MCSO policies duringtheir time in the academy.As a temporary employee attending the Academy, your tuition and equipmentwill be provided along with an hourly pay rate of $20.00 an hour based on a40-hour work week and are eligible for Mesa County Medical Benefits. Recruitsmust successfully complete the Academy and be Colorado P.O.S.T. certifiedprior to beginning the Mesa County Sheriff's Office Patrol Field TrainingProgram as a full-time employee. Upon successful completion of the PeaceOfficers Academy, job duties will reflect those of a certified DeputySheriff as listed below.JOB SUMMARY:Performs responsible law enforcement functions as determined by theincumbent's position assignment. Depending on the position assignment,incumbents conduct general and complex criminal investigations, providesecurity at County facilities, provide field training to new employees,may serve as undercover narcotics agents, serve civil and criminalwarrants, and provide lead direction specialized teams.If offered a permanent position with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, thefollowing hiring incentives will apply;Fluent in both English and Spanish at the time of hire - $5,000.00 bonusAssociates Degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college -$3,000.00 bonusBachelors Degree from accredited college - $5000,00 bonusMasters Degree from accredited college - $7000.00 bonusActive duty military service of 2 or more years - $4000.00 bonusThree or more years of related work experience - applicant will be hired atPart-time Employees .5 FTE will be eligible for the incentives at 50% of theamount of bonus and paid in the same way full time employees receive them.Only one bonus will be awarded per applicant; however, applicant mayqualify for the step increase for experience and one bonus level.All bonuses will be paid in two parts:50% of bonus paid upon completion of the field-training program.Remaining 50% paid upon completion of the first full year of employment.JOB SUMMARY:Performs responsible law enforcement functions as determined by theincumbent's position assignment.
