Days and hours may vary Monday through Friday, 7am - 7pm. Paid monthly.Requirements:Education: Master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, or related field.Required Experience: Three years experience in counseling, specifically in the mental healthfield working with a variety of diagnosis. Experience in facilitating psych-education groups.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Must hold current license in Colorado as a Licensed ProfessionalCounselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Addictions Counseloror equivalent or be able to obtain license within the first year ofemployment.Other Necessary Requirements Position requires a person with thorough knowledge of individual and groupcounseling techniques, group facilitation skills, suicide assessment andtreatment, skills in working with mental health issues, diagnosis andtreatment The position requires the ability to establish and maintain documentationconcerning services provided to the inmates. Position requires the ability to establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with employees, community, law enforcement, judicialpersonnel, and the public. Position requires a person to have good investigative skills and abilityto process detailed information to assess risk and needs of inmates withoverall outcome the safety and security of jail facility. Person must have good problem solving skills and be capable of makingdecisions based on objective criteria. Position requires a person have good interview skills and knowledge ofcriminal behavior. Person must have knowledge and competency with automation systems.Duties:This is a professional correctional counseling position that provides crisisintervention and short term counseling to inmates. Counselors providepsycho-educational groups including cognitive behavioral based programs toinmates. They work in collaboration with security and medical staff concerninginmate related problems. Counselors conduct suicide assessment and mentalhealth screening for inmates with follow up supervision. A Counselor IIIprovides diagnostic mental health evaluations of inmates to determine mentalhealth needs. A Counselor III completes assessment for emergency commitment(M-1) and prepares appropriate documentation upon the release of an inmate.Provide short term, individual counseling services and case management toinmates. Develop and update case plans, including documentation andmaintenance of counseling files. Provide psycho-educational groups, including cognitive behavioral basedprograms to inmates. Respond to "Inmate Request Forms" and "Mental Health ReferralForms" per policy. Facilitate suicide staffing as needed and prepare progress notes, EMRdocumentation, case plan development and follow up supervision. Complete "Psychiatric Medication Review" for inmates. Complete diagnostic mental health evaluation of inmates to determinemental health needs. Consult with medical staff regarding psychiatric medication and treatmentof mentally ill inmates. Complete assessment for emergency commitment (M-1) and prepareappropriate documentation. Help resolve housing conflicts between inmates that occur as a result ofpod assignment. Consult with staff for resolution. Enter general population living area to discuss programs, problem solveand maintenance of good order and discipline with inmates. Ensure thatappropriate security precautions are followed when working with inmates. Establish and maintain working relationships with community agencies forconsultation, evaluation, therapy and other social services support forin-house programs and initiate inmate referrals to the community. Provide in-service training to jail staff. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Inmate Services.
