Company is seeking a GIS or Geomatics Technician with two - fouryears' experience to work in the Phoenix, AZ area. This is a temporaryposition (6 months) with a possible opportunity to extend an additional 6months. This position is located at a client site, not a Merrick office.Job DescriptionTakes direction to perform GIS data gathering, digitizing, conversion,and analysisApplies cartographic standards to prepare maps and exhibits using GIS datasetsProvides support to senior GIS staffThis position requires limited travel. It is anticipated that there will be aminimum of 3 travel events within Arizona, California, and New Mexico.This position requires 50-hour work weeks made up of five (5) ten-hourdays, beginning at 7:30 AM and ending at 6:00 PM with a 30-minute lunchperiod, Monday thru Friday, excluding Federal holidays. Consistentattendance and punctuality required.Required ExperienceTwo (2) - four (4) years' experience working with ESRI 10.x softwareapplications and extensionsMicrosoft Excel and PowerPoint required Access preferredEDUCATION:Bachelor's degree OR Associates or GIS Certificate is preferredHigh school diploma is requiredLocal candidates preferredRequired SkillsKnowledge of shapefiles, geodatabases, and geospatial standards (SDSFIE)Knowledge of data projections and how to manipulateDemonstrated understanding of basic GIS concepts and methodologies such asdrawing scale, spatial databases, spatial projections and coordinatesystems, text and annotation placement, layer control, etc.Demonstrated understanding of cartographic methodsAttention to detail, organized, customer focusedAble to work in a team and multitaskAbility to work effectively on tight deadlines when necessaryAbility to track and report project progress for timesheet and budgetreportingWorking knowledge of ArcGIS Pro a plusWorking knowledge of ArcGIS Online and Web Mapping services a plusSome field work will be required, accompany project teams to study areas andcollect GPS data/locationsPhysical RequirementsAble to spend extended periods of time working at desktop computer.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must bemet by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of thisjob.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilitiesto perform the essential functions.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment.
