Charter Communications/Spectrum Network Engineer IV CBO Optical in Greenwood Village, Colorado

In this role, the Network Engineer is responsible forproviding guidance and direction for the National Backbone Optical Planningand Design team on capacity planning, forecasting and implementation asrequired to support growth and to ensure a seamless reroute of traffic in theevent of network failures. Responsible for ensuring the timely implementationof capacity augmentation projects, reporting, network compliance andcapital budgeting. Follows corporate standards, develops and implementsnetwork enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement. Responsiblefor implementation of approved network architecture and designs. Leads instaff development efforts. Works closely with technical operations staff onsystem design and configuration. Recognized as the technical and designexpert.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Demonstrated hands-on experience planning, design and deployingBackbone optical networks. * Highly skilled in Dense Wave Division Multiplexing, RAMAN, and EDFA * Highly skilled in network planning, network architecture design andengineering. Leads in the development of the network growth. * Judicious management and creation of all budget approvals associatedwith assigned projects. * Develops Engineering Design packages directed toward the implementationteam. * Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhancethe customer experience * Ensure required reports are timely, accurate and complete * Identify and develop procedures to help streamline processes within theBackbone * Highly skilled in Network Operations * Knowledge of transport network planning process and associated dataanalysis for capacity management. * Evaluates new products, performs network problem resolution. * Assists in the development and documentation of technical standards. * Implements approved methods of procedure, and assists in designingcorporate standards, develops and implements network enhancements and makesrecommendations for improvement. * Works on projects/systems/issues of varying complexity surroundingnetwork planning, configuration and optimization. * Provides tier support across organizations. * Works on one or more projects as a project team member, regularly asa project team lead. * Familiarity with Flexgrid and CDCBASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relatedfield, and/or equivalent work experience * Minimum six (6) years network engineering experience * Minimum four (4) years optical planning/engineering/operationsexperience * At least four (4) years of Data network experience * Accomplished written and verbal communication skillsADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS * Experience with Capacity Planning, Forecasting and Capital Budgeting * Accomplished written and verbal communication skills * Demonstrate leadership qualities * Ability to produce Engineering Design Packages, Method of Procedureand Bill of Materials. * Advanced knowledge of related industry specifications and standardsIEEE, ANSI, Physical Media (Multimode Fiber, Singlemode Fiber,UTP, etc.), bridging, switching, routing, ethernet and transporttechnologies and protocols * Experience with network design, network architecture, protocols andnetwork topology * TCP/IP and the OSI Model * Advanced knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support thecurrent operations * Experience with network devices and basic network appliances * Strong experience with network designing software and MS Suite such asVisio, Excel, and Word.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP or CCIP or CCIE) * Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco,Infinera, Nokia, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)The Spectrum brand is powered and innovated by Chart
