DescriptionThe OpportunityUlteig is seeking qualified candidates for the position of SubstationEngineer. The Substation Engineer develops and reviews utility substationdrawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Cable and ConduitPlans, Grounding Plans, AC/DC Schematics, panel elevations,electrical equipment enclosure plans, wiring diagrams, specifications,and reports to ensure that they are complete, accurate, and in accordancewith sound engineering practices and client standards.What You'll DoThe Substation Engineer acts as a technical leader and applies standardengineering techniques and procedures on moderately complex projects. Plans,schedules, conducts and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned projectwork. Makes design recommendations, adaptations and modifications forutility substations. Performs calculations using engineering formulas andskills. Involved in the resolution of design problems, which may includeperforming field investigation or observation, detailed design work anddetailed quality control (QC) review of design calculations. Coordinatesspecific design aspects of a project requiring the ability to plan,schedule, conduct, and communicate work with team members. Providetechnical guidance to other engineers.What We Expect from YouBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required. ABET accreditedprogram or equivalent required.PE License strongly preferred. Ability to obtain within 1 year required.4years of engineering experience requiredPrior experience working with physical design or protection and control designof electrical power substations requiredCapable of reviewing and producing design drawings, including GeneralArrangements, Elevations, Cable and Conduit Plans, Grounding Plans,Physical Connection Details, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagramsAbility to perform AC and DC substation studiesExperience using ground grid modeling software a plusKnowledge of substation protection and control schemes a plusKnowledge of basic relay settings a plusKnowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) a plusKnowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) a plusKnowledge of Rural Utilities Service (RUS) design guide a plusProven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Must have permanent authorization to work in USWhat You Can Expect from UlteigFor 75 years, we've built a culture focused on people - both our clientsand our employees.
