Area of InterestEngineeringSalary/HourlyHourlyGeneral SummaryThe EWP Designer is responsible for the accurate design of engineered woodproducts for single family, commercial and multi-family projects. Handledirect calls from clients regarding design, estimating and placing orders.Works under general supervision; exercises discretion and judgment of workpriority on a regular basis.Principal Duties/Responsibilities Prepares EWP bids, layouts and framing details utilizing BC Framer or MiTeksoftware. Optimize designs for maximum efficiency. Review orders, layouts and data files for accuracy. Assist sales and production with design service and troubleshooting. Performs other duties as required.RequirementsKnowledge: Minimum high school graduate. Preferred bachelor's degree in relateddiscipline or equivalent Minimum 3 years of experience in single family, commercial and/ormulti-family EWP design. Working knowledge and experience using BC Framer or MiTek software isrequired. Working knowledge of framing and construction practices preferred.Skills and abilities: Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing andspeaking Ability to read and understand blueprints Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrate math skills to perform framing calculations includingconcentrated and uniform loads. Good people skills with positive customer service attitude and properphone/email etiquette. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to communicate effectively with others, including customers,peers, and management. Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize andprioritize work, and to meet deadlines. Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time and work hoursmandated by management.
