DescriptionThe Accounting Specialist is a vital member of the Corporate Finance andAccounting team. We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialistexperienced with maintaining accurate account records and responding tointernal customer requests. The ideal candidate will play an integral role inthe monthly close process and be analytical, self-motivated and proactive.This position will report directly to the Director, Corporate Controller.Required Skills/QualificationsPrepare and enter journal entries for the month end close such as accruals,amortization and adjusting entriesAssist with setting up vendorsAssist with maintaining fixed assetsAssist with cash application and cash management activitiesAssist in month-end close processPrepare balance sheet account reconciliationsAssist with preparation of quarterly and year-end financial statements,including supporting schedulesAssist with analyzing the balance sheet and income statement to ensureaccuracyPrepare audit schedules and provide other documentation requested to supportthe interim and year-end auditsRespond to accounting inquiries in a timely and accurate mannerAssist with other tasks, duties or special projects as assignedDesired Skills and Experience:1-5 years of experience in Accounting or FinanceBachelor's degree in accounting preferred; professional experience will beconsidered in lieu of degreeExcellent internal customer service historyExcellent communication skills and professionalism with the ability to developgood working relationships with personnel in all departments and levelsAble to work independently and within a team settingStrong organization and attention to detail skillsCritical thinking and problem solvingDemonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio etc.)Self-motivated with a high degree of integrity, professionalism, andreliabilityAbility to successfully follow established procedures while completingassigned tasks accurately, timely and consistentlyFlexibility to work overtime during peak periodsAbout Brown and CaldwellHeadquartered in Walnut Creek, Calif., Brown and Caldwell is afull-service environmental engineering and construction firm with 52 officesand 1,700 professionals across North America and the Pacific.
