Security Engineer - Hardware Security Architecture
Responsible for securing Oracle Cloud by consulting on architecture and design of secure systems, designing and prototyping new security solutions, and driving security requirements for new products in collaboration with hardware, firmware, and software engineers. This role requires experience with embedded systems, trusted computing solutions, and an understanding of security impact at the software, hardware and network layers.

As a Hardware Security Engineer you will work closely with both vendors and cloud service teams to build platforms that are fundamentally sound and efficient. You should be familiar with secure boot, hardware virtualization, firmware security and measurement. Intellectual curiosity and an excitement for the challenges of securing complex, massive systems are a must. You should value simplicity and usability as well as security and work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment.
Things you ll do:
Consult with development teams on architecture and implementation of secure platforms
Evaluate servers and devices for suitability in virtualized and bare metal environments
Set security requirements for hardware and firmware deployed in the cloud
Develop processes to secure servers through the supply chain and to the data center
Set guidelines for secure handling, deployment, and disposal of devices in the data center
Prototype and design security solutions for new and challenging problems
B.S. or M.S. degree, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
5 years of experience in security engineering or related field
Strong hardware, firmware, or embedded security background
Knowledge of applied cryptography
Familiar with the architecture of one or more of: x86 or ARM servers, SmartNICs, Storage or Networking devices
Experience with the following technologies is a plus:
Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) such as Trustzone, SGX, or SEV
UEFI Secure Boot, BootGuard, BIOSGuard, or Hardware Validated Boot (HVB)
Remote Attestation and related technologies like Trusted Platform Modules (TPM), TXT, or SKINIT
Total Memory Encryption (TME) or Secure Memory Encryption (SME)
