Woodward Product Line Manager (Engine Control Systems/Products) in Loveland, Colorado

DescriptionPosition Purpose:In the Woodward Engine Control Systems business,we develop innovativecontrol systems and products to control diesel and alternative fueled enginesin industrial markets.Reports to a functional Director and is responsible for providing marketing,commercial and technical expertise for application and development of newproducts and systems from conceptual customer/market segment requirements inthe diesel and alternative fuels industrial markets. Typical product/systems include small diesel engine actuators and system controls, LPGand natural gas small enginesystem controls and components, emission controlcomponents.Leads marketing processes that include customer communications,proposals, presentations development and maintaining product strategies androaEssential Functions:Conducts market studies that define market potential of new products.Accountable for the development, communication and execution of strategicplans for traditional products and markets, including product roadmaps.Includes external measurements of product performance: market share,revenue, customer satisfaction and profitability.Includes internal measurements of product lifecycle, quality, technicalsupport, marketing programs and sales support.Includes providing strategic direction in research and development initiativesand projectsIdentifies and creates strategies for new products and markets for organic andinorganic growth (alliances, acquisitions and joint ventures)Develop and grow relationships with key contacts at large accounts andindustry experts.Responsible for product and system pricing utilizing pricing policy.Manages traditional products through the entire Product Life Cycle (PLC).Accountable for evaluation and recommendation regarding productprofitability; maintain, cost reduction, pricing increase orrationalization. Coordinates with other functional areas as appropriate.Accountable for development and execution of product launch plan.Responsible for creation of product literature, promotional material andinternal positioning document in conjunction with existing sales model.Accountable for providing commercial leadership during all phases of newproduct introduction when related to multiple customers.Leads/participates in the development of proposal strategies.Leads systems architecture definition on new and existing products,including Business Opportunity Analysisto address well defined customer needs.Collaborates with internal departments/stakeholders to developnear-term/strategies thru the use of funnel reviews to increase businesswith existing and new customers.Participates in customer meetings to deliver technical presentations.Perform product introduction and training to internal and external customers.Other Functions:Attend key trade shows to acquire competitive customer and market intelligenceFunction in international account teamsSignificant domestic/international travel requiredMay participate in end-item make/buy/partner analysisMay identify opportunities and coordinate with engineering for development andpresentation of white papersRepresents Woodward in Professional/Industry organizationsMay negotiate/facilitate commercial alliances and partnershipsMay mentor/supervise lower level Product Line ManagerMaterials and Equipment Used:Standard office equipmentMicrosoft Office SuiteWorking Environment / Physical Activities:Office environmentQualificationsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:
