Centennial Mental Health Center Accounting Specialist in Sterling, Colorado

Performs a variety of duties in accordance with standard accounting proceduresin the areas of accounts payable, payroll and general accounting. Completesadvanced and specialized accounting assignments, as needed. Obtains andanalyzes financial information to prepare reports, statements andrecommendations. Provides leadership and direction to other accounting clerks.Performs duties with minimal supervision and guidance.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Prepares and enters vouchers into the accounting system.2. Creates and maintains documents in electronic formats for processing andstorage purposes.3. Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries toaccounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.4. Distributes expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivablesaccording to assigned schedules.5. Prepares bank reconciliations, fixed asset records, and auditschedules within area(s) of assigned responsibility.6. Reconciles information to the general ledger, as assigned.7. Prepares reports summarizing Center's business activities.8. Provides assistance within the Finance Department to other financialpositions, as needed.9. Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies, as assigned.10. Establishes and maintains effective, collaborative workingrelationships with Center employees and outside agencies with which the Centeris involved.11. Completes statistical reports and special projects as required.12. Maintains sufficient knowledge of accounting practices to completeduties efficiently.13. Maintains and follows written procedures for each task or responsibilityand updates procedures as necessary.14. Performs other job duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESAs assigned JOB REQUIREMENTSEDUCATIONBachelor's degree (BA) (preferred not required)from a four-yearcollege or university inaccounting, business administration or a related field or evidence ofequivalent combination of education and experience.EXPERIENCEMinimum of two years working experience in a business office setting.Experience using Microsoft products. Demonstrates mastery of progressivelymore complex tasks. Demonstrates skill level in field working independentlywith minimal supervision.ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSAdvanced knowledge of accounting and business practices. Excellent computerskills with demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet, database, and wordprocessing software. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complexdocuments. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts,and draw valid conclusions. Ability to prepare information using original orinnovative techniques or style.
